Meet our coaches
Helping you make the most of your Swim in a Tin experience
Karen McCormack
To take someone on the journey from being scared of water to being confident, happy and loving the water is simply a brilliant experience!
I have always loved the water and swimming. About 9 years ago a swim coach friend was telling me about a new style of swimming he was now coaching, making swimming more effective and easier. I went for a couple of sessions with him and my love for swimming was reignited.
Thereafter followed much reading, watching tutorials and of course lots of practice! It was then with the support of family and friends I decided to retrain and become a swim coach. It proved to be the best decision I ever made. I completed my STA level 2 Award in swimming Teaching, followed shortly thereafter by Level 2 Award in Aquatic Teaching – baby and pre-school.
Since then, I have taught countless numbers of children and adults. For children, having fun is important in lessons, especially if they are uncertain or nervous in water. For adults, I know and understand that taking that first step to learning to swim can seem daunting and overwhelming.
To take someone on the journey from being scared of water to being confident, happy and loving the water is simply brilliant experience!
I’m delighted to be the Senior Coach at Swim in A Tin and look forward to sharing my passion and love of swimming with you.

The connection you make with people as you coach them through their journey is second to none. I quickly fell in love with everything about it.
After swimming for leisure with family and friends as a young adult and being introduced to being a swimming assistant through my sister I quickly fell in love with everything about it. I spent several years learning and growing alongside some amazing teachers, picking up skills that are only taught first hand along the way. After this I took the plunge to become qualified and I learnt then that the best was yet to come, and that was being a teacher. The connection you make with people as you coach them through their journey is second to none. Seeing confidence and technique grow with every session and how rewarding it really is for everyone involved.
I feel blessed to have found a job doing something I loved since such an early age that is not only rewarding but something I love to do.
Could this be you?
